Happy but ... there's always a BUT

Overall I'd say 4.5 stars.

Im extremely happy with the hardware, communication and quality of product and service.

My downgrade on marks is for following reasons.

I ordered a 12th gen intel custom PC using the online configuration options.
I didn't check sizing so default case couldn't accommodate my cooler choice that one is mostly on me.

I got a call from Tom. Very pleasant and professional asked about my uses for the unit as I wasn't too bothered about changes.

All was good case was upgraded FREE

Got another call shortly after that my cooler choice didn't come with the required mounting plate for the CPU. Bit disappointed because in my mind shouldn't be an option to pair if that's the case but again all this was washed away with some generous changes in SSD size(doubled) and reconfiguration of RAM to leverage additional channel functionality....data intense usage it'll be a solid gaming setup used to its limits for work

Got delivered 8 working days after it was ordered and noticed a small change to the MB I selected with connectivity downgrade supplemented with extra hardware

Overall im happy and would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately there are very few Intel socket 1700 cooler options at the moment however we do have Arctic Freezer 50 DUAL RGB coolers with socket 1700 brackets. This is one of only 3 fan options and we have purchased updated versions of this cooler specifically to suit the 12th Generation Intel Processors.

I suspect there has been some confusion and I have sent an email to Tom asking why he did not fit the cooler you ordered.

I am also a little confused about the case change as the cooler should fit into the CiT 7. It is a tight squeeze however the specs to state there is still 1mm clearance.

Looking at the order I suspect the AORUS Z690M ELITE AX may be the reason for the back and forth.

AORUS supplied us with ATX versions of this motherboard when we ordered the mATX version and we have had to make a few changed as the smaller version has not yet arrived into stock. This can happen with new motherboard and the Z690M was not released when we launched the Intel 12th Gen PC Configurator.

We held off on adding the Intel 12th Gen for over 4 months due to the problems with motherboards and coolers with the 12th Gen PC Configurator only add in late February.

I know we have been using a similar spec MSI motherboard as an alternative in builds over the last few weeks. The MSI Z690M is a more expensive motherboard with similar specifications.

It is possible the ARCTIC FREEZER 50 DUAL COOLER would not fit onto the motherboard and that is another issue with the Z690M motherboards as there are components on the board which interfere with the installation of many coolers.

Unfortunately the Intel 12th Gen is only on our website for a few weeks and we did not get a chance to build using all of the components before we created the 12th GEN PC CONFIGURATOR as the 12th Gen motherboard , memory and even the processors themselves were in short supply.

I will check with Tom and I will update this response early next week.

Thank you for your review. Your order was placed on the 4th of October 2022 at 16.50 and it was shipped on the 12th of October 2022. Your order took 6 business days to ship due to firstly the payment method which was an offline payment method which can take up to 48 hours to be verified. You are also ordered a number of components which were listed as special order with a delivery time to 10 business days from date of order. Considering these 2 facts shipping your order in 6 business days was better than the estimated delivery stated when you placed the order. Please understand that a number of the items on your order were not stock items and were listed as special order items for example the MSI MEG Cooler and the Seasonic 1300 Watt PSU. These are the items which were not available and why your order took 6 business days for shipping. We list the shipping time frame on each product to ensure our customers can make informed decisions. We also have a next day range which comprises of over 1000 products however from your order only the C700 case and the i5 12400f were available next day. I am sorry you are unhappy with the delivery time but please understand this was a complex order with special order items as well as an offline payment method. Thank you for your review.

Finally got the job done,

There's so much to work on but they get the products out, eventually... No response from sales, staff, tickets, etc., when complaints are made order statuses are changed and you're good to go.

With some small efforts this brand could perform substantially!

Thank you for your review. Order statuses change when for example a custom pc build move from Pre Build to a Build Stage or to a Final Testing Stage. Component orders also have multiple stages with a new order going to Pending and then to Processing followed by Stock Checked and then Stock Allocated. Many of the stages are trigger by products being scanned or by the status being updated due to a task being completed. We do not change a status related to a complaint as this would make son sense and our sales support staff would not have access to make such a change. We are currently working on a new ticket / email system which we launched along side Zendesk were tickets/emails are connected to a customers account which means a customer can even send and create tickets from within their order/account. This has been done to improve communications between customers and our staff and to ensure a customer will always have a record of their communications with us. This new Helpdesk MX system has been designed to speed up many of the processes and even allows the customer to choose the departmen they want to speak with. Once the trial of this new Helpdesk goes to plan we will phase out allowing communications through social media as this is a weakness in our current communications with customers. Bringing all communications back into the system ensures registered customers who have accounts and have placed orders receive priority support. New Customers or customers without account will obviously still be able to communication using the new Helpdesk MX system. The other advantage of this new system is there is no need to create a support account or login to support as once you are logged into your account at custompc.ie you can send tickets. I am sorry for going off point but I am trying to show we are always improving the website and we make changes based on customer feedback.

I like custom pc and all of its…

I like custom pc and all of its services. So far they have not disappointed. The only small thing that I find annoying is the way they don't add the VAT until the end when you are paying.

Thank you for your review. Our website shows 23% VAT included with all prices displayed and we show the ex vat price at checkout. If you are seeing prices on product pages without VAT you must have ticked the ' WITHOUT VAT ' slider which is beside the price. Our business customers need to know the price without is why the option to show the price without vat exists. The default everyone however see is price including 23% VAT. We do not add VAT/TAX at checkout however the amount you are paying in VAT is displayed at checkout.

Ireland's best PC shop

Ireland's best PC shop. The website can be a pain, but the prices are brilliant, and they do everything they can to fight against the rising prices of chips, etc. Also, my graphics card hadn't arrived with them, and was delaying my order - so they sent an upgraded one, to make sure it didn't get delayed too long. Thanks very much!

Our website was last redesigned in August 2020 has struggled due to the increase in visitors which has gone up 12 fold in less than 2 years. In 2019 when we started the redesign of the 2018 version of our website we did not consider the importance of mobile devices. This will change with the launch of our new 2022 website which we expect will launch within 2 months. Our new website will be streamlined to ensure quicker load times on desktop pcs and on mobile devices. Unfortuantely our website will never be lightning fast and the reason for this is that our website ( servers ) is operating a PC CONFIGURATOR which offers up to 23 options and each option may have 20 choices. Our main business is the design and build of CUSTOM PCs so our website will always have a PC Configurator. The good news is that our new PC CONFIGURATOR which will launch on the new site in July or August of 2022 will take up less processing power but the more visitors using the PC Configurator the slower the servers ( website ). We are reducing the processing requirements by almost 40% and we will have server upgrades taking place which will increase performance by 20%. We expect this will give a better performance until the volume of visitors further increases and then we have to start again. Our website has a 2 year design cycle with new versions launched on average every 2 years. In 2020 we did not expect the level of visitors to increase as happened which is why we are bulding more capacity into the server/website for the 2022 version. We hope to launch the new 2022 website in beat form very soon.

Great experience straigh out of the…

Great experience straigh out of the box. Had to do some tweeks regarding disk optimozation as the preinstalled software was slow and laggy which we should probably blame Windows for but overal 4/5. Would deffinently recommend Custom Pcs to be built by these guys.

Last purchase was just like it should…

Last purchase was just like it should be, on time and correctly done. But, the only thing that makes me want to change shop is the poor website. IT online based shop with poor and slow website can't go together. Simply cannot. Hope you will invest a bit in mobile-friendly interface, and of course improve website together with server.

Thank you for your review. Our current website was launched in August 2020 and since then the number of visitors has almost tripled which had caused performance issues for the site. We are launching a totally new website on the 1st of October 2022 which has been in development for over 18 months. The new website has hundreds of new features and it looks like the old website bit it is in fact a total redesign. Our new PC CONFIGUGURATOR is also launching as are the new product datasheets which means more information and more options when building PC. Overall amazing I’d make one small change

Thank you for your review. We do provide estimates of when a CUSTOM PC will be delivered and we provide update emails as the build progresses. Unfortunately the delivery estimate can changed based on the complexity of the build as well as the volume of builds we have on at the time. The average time for a standard custom pc build is 10 business days from date or order or payment.

They have a good selection of PC parts.
My only problem with them is long and somewhat complicated way of returning faulty goods.
Having this ticket system. Very vague. And takes a long time to get some sort of answer.
I wish there was some way to contact them by old fashioned Phone.

Thank you for your review. We ceased offering phone support in May of 2015 after allowing considerable input from our customers regards the advantages and disadvantages of removing phone support. More than 75% of customers in 2015 voted to remove phone support. Since 2015 we have added a dedicated Returns application which is available to all customers through their account which removes the need to open a support ticket or to visit the help desk. All aspects of the return can be organised through the Returns Application with RMA Numbers issues quickly for more than 90% of customer returns.It may on occasion be necessary to return a customer attemting a return to our support teams but this is rare. Our returns application was developed based on our experience over a number of years with the HELP DESK and the RETURNS APPLICATION now 100% integrated which means any support ticket can be seen within the RMA for example. We have looked at other options available and we truly believe the application we designed to be superior based on the specifics of selling custom desktop pcs and laptops. We are always open to suggestions but please understand that phone support ended over 8 years ago and this is not a service that can return as we genuinely do not feel it would benefit our customers with this for example. If we answered a call regards a return the staff member answering the call would only be able to advise the customer to create an RMA on the website and wait for an RMA number to be issued. This would add an analogue step to the workflow and create an obstable when a customer wants to make a return. We are a 100% online business and we provide all support through our website as the vast majority of online businesses do in 2023.Please note that if our staff deem it necessary to reach out to a customer they will call the customer on the phone but we do always advise our staff to first email then send an SMS or Whatsapp Message and only call on the phone as a last resort. I hope you now understand why phone support is no longer offered by us in 2023. I have also looked at your order and I can see you have used the returns procedure however you did not log into your account when creating the RMA so you would not have been able to see our past ordered items for example. I am not sure if this was mentioned to you regards the issue you reported with the 1000 Watt Bronze PSU. This psu would not have been reccommended for a Flight Similator PC which was likely using a high end GPU and running at 100% or above for prolonged periods. If we had known of your intended use we would have recommended an 850 WATT GOLD or PLATINUM power supply however this would have been based on the graphics you have in your pc. Be Quiet are a first class power supply and we highly recommend the German Engineered Be Quiet power Supplies as they offer extended reliability. We are here to always help and advise our customer before and after they make a purchase and again thank you for your review.

Cons: Not a great website. Slow and archaic.
Also - Can't find the business on the map. The Eircode indicates what looks like a phone repair shop. (Edit: I've since found them. The Eircode on the Facebook page is incorrect)

Our website was launched in 2020 and we are on a 2 year cycle when it comes to launching new websites. Our new website which will offer 3 times the power and capacity will launch in September 2022.

Eircode changed our Eircode to R93 K22K in February 2022 and this has been updated on our website.

We are also launching AUTOADDRESS for EIRCODE on our new website which is launching next month so a customer merely types in their Eircode and the address autocompletes.

Nearly at the top level

Really great to have and Irish business for us to use. There is 2 cons, speed and pricing. Pricing is a little bit over the top but accepting credit facilities means excess charges and naturally going to cause a price increase but some components are €800 above RRP. Processing, dispatch and delivery speeds leave a lot to be desired especially considering it was a domestic order.
All in all the team deserve the business but I think they are two areas that definitely could improve, however it won’t stop me from shopping here again. Thanks lads

We have been providing components at almost cost price as a service to our customers since January 2021 so it would be highly unlikely to have an item listed at €800 above the RRP considering the pricing is set by the vendor and not ourselves. Thank you for your order and I am sorry we did not live up to your expectations but please understand that component sales was only ever intended as a short term service and we had allowed it to go on for more than 3 years which was creating issues for our many loyal customers who rely on us for custom pcs , laptops ,servers and workstions. This was the reason we decided to stop allowing the sale of components and accories on our websites form the 30th of September 2024. We have done our upmost to provide a level of service to component and accessory customers however it wa not possible to provide the necessary level of service as 11% of our sales created 82% of our support ticket and this service was being supported by us financally since 2021. It is not possible to supply components in Ireland quick even if we could supply at low prices as the stock must be held on the continent based on the Irish market being tiny in comparison to the German or even Italian markets. We have always tried to find a balance but due to the effects of component and accessory sales on our core business and customers regards pcs , laptops and workstation we have stopped selling components and accessories. Thank you for your custom and I hope we can assist you in the future. There is a notice below not related to your review but it will give you an idea of why we have stopped the sale of accessories. If you need a recomendation on a component supplier who ships to Ireland please contact our sales team. I do however not think any large component suppliers in Germany for example could ship to Ireland as we did but companies like CONRAD.COM for example are very good and they specialist in component sales. Thank you for your order.

We ceased selling components and accessories on the 30th of September 2024 after notice of 120 days. This notice was on the product , home and checkout pages on our websites. Our decision related to the selling of components and accessories being a temporary service to help customers impacted by Brexit Custom Controls in January 2021. We did received 20 times the normal amount of orders in the final days of September which did create issue. As the service was ending on the last day of September any orders not processed or available were cancelled and refunded and an email sent to the customer or when possible a phone call was made..

Good and responsive company to deal with

I was happy with my dealings with CustomPC.ie. Customer service responded with relevant information and dealt with tickets rapidly after the initial quite long delay.
Only criticism I would have is that the delivery of my CPU cooler took more than two weeks and was the last component to arrive.
Their reply to this comment contained information that they did not communicate to me at the time, and which would have made me write a more favourable comment. I think to make things perfect, all they need to do is increase the size of the service team, to shorten the response times.

Nick , thank you for your review. Unfortunately the delay with your BeQuiet cooler was related to the initial model supplied not have the AM5 or 1700 bracket and was clearly older stock. When we realised this we asked for the newer version to be supplied and this did add almost 5 business days to the order and for that we apologise. It is our policy to ensure the description matches the supplied product and as this model stated the newer brackets were included we delayed the order until the correct version arrived. This is not a low cost cooler and is a BeQuiet Pro 5 so we needed to ensure you got the exact model you ordered. We do carry this model in stock for our own builds however none of our own stock included the updated brackets and we had not offered the cooler as an option on the AM5 or Intel 1700 however clearly BeQuiet updated the cooler to be compatible with AM5 and Intel 1700. Please accept our apologies for the delay which was created.

We supply an IRISH UK ADAPTER with all Monitors purchased. If you have not received the correct adapter please contact support@custompc.ie and we will recity this straight away.

Whether a monitor comes with a HDMI cable is down to the monitors manufacturer and ASUS are one of the only manufacturers that do not include cables with their monitors. Unfortunately this is not something we can change but we do have low prices on HDMI cables.

there was too much delay in my ordered item coming into stock with and being delivered to me but all was ok when they answered my email offering me a same spec substitute which was not on their website in order to deliver quicker that was ok for me. delivery is due today so looking forward to it. Summary: If you're looking for something in a hurry its not the website for you. But if you want non rip off affordable prices and quality stuff and prepared to wait its a very good place to shop for IT stuff..

Phil , Your order was placed on the 30th of December 2022 during the holiday period when we where closed which meant your order could not be processed until the 3rd of January 2023 ( This information was displayed on our website ). The delivery ETA for any product is displayed on the Product Page to ensure customers can for example choose from our NEXT DAY RANGE if they want quick delivery. In our PC PARTS Store @ www.CUSTOMPC.ie we offer just over 10,000 products of which around 1,200 products are available for next day delivery. Other products have information on their respective product pages stating for example Estimated Delivery 3-5 Days or 3-6 Days. Special Order Items are clearly marked and have a delivery ETA of up to 10 business days. Over the last 90 days the average delivery for a component order placed on the www.CUSTOMPC.ie website was 3 business days. It was stated on our website that no orders would ship from the 22.12.2022 tot he 03.01.2023 with any order placed after the 22.12.2022 processed on the 3rd of January 2022. We did however open on the 29th of December 2022 to ship Next Day Range orders placed between the 22.12.2022 and the 29.12.2022 however we did not advertise this and the service was a gesture to our many customers who ordered late for Christmas.

Although payment was taken immediately for my order, it took a while to actually get shipped due to the time it took for stock to arrive at the company. I did have to raise a couple of tickets, but to their credit, my issues were sorted out and the company telephoned me to explain the situation and substituted one part with a (better) substitute.

They could have communicated better early on in the process; I wouldn't have needed to raise tickets if this had happened.

I did find the shipping cost expensive (about €10 for three small parts), but if it's the same cost for all order sizes, then it works out fair all round.

You placed your order on the 18th of May 2023 and we shipped your order on the 31st of May 2023. Your order was stated as 7-10 business days on the product page when you placed the order however there was a stock issue with this WD Blue product which resulted in us contacting you. We provide the estimated delivery term for each item on the product page of the item and this product showed an estiamte of 7-10 days. I do also note your order was it seems HELD PENDING SECURITY REVIEW which is when the metchant processor of the payment card transaction requests information about the order. This delay is beyond our control however this did not affect your order given the delivery time was 10-12 days. I am sorry you were unaware of the delivery time on the WD Product.

Overall, I can't fault the service and products I bought. There was a bit of delay but as soon as I contacted the seller, they replied straight away and sent goods out.
